Artwork that scales with the application.

Vector artwork describes shapes with paths rather than a fixed grid of pixels. It can make a logo easier to scale and edit, but the right construction still depends on the way the file will be used.

Think beyond the file extension

A PDF, EPS or AI file can contain embedded pixels. If you need editable outlines, specify that requirement and explain which elements must remain separate.

Organise colour and typography

Supply brand colours and any licensed fonts you are authorised to share. Discuss outlined text, spot colours and alternate versions with the supplier who will receive the artwork.

Match the output to the workflow

Sign cutting, print and digital branding have different expectations. Ask your receiving supplier for its format and construction requirements before approving the final package.

Check at the intended size

Review fine lines, spacing and lettering at the actual output dimensions. A scalable file does not remove minimum-detail limits in physical production.

Common questions

Is placing a JPG inside an SVG the same as vector artwork?

No. The embedded image remains pixel-based. Ask for reconstructed paths when editable vector shapes are required.

Can I request both editable and preview files?

Yes. State the required editing format and any PDF, PNG or JPG preview exports in your brief.
